Associate Professor of Political Science, and Director of Graduate Studies, Taylor Carlson, has received the 2026 Elections, Public Opinion, and Voting Behavior (EPOVB) Emerging Scholar award. The award is granted by the EPOVB section of the American Political Science Association.
The Emerging Scholar award is presented to top scholars in the field who are within ten years of their PhD. Carlson has had tremendous success in her career including multiple published articles in national journals, publication of her books, Through the Grapevine: Political Conversations and Distorted Democracy (2024), Talking Politics: Political Discussion Networks and the New American Electorate (2020; co-authored with Marisa Abrajano and Lisa García Bedolla), and What Goes Without Saying: Navigating Political Discussion in America (2022: co-authored with Jamie Settle), and successful, dedicated work as Director of Graduate Studies at WashU.
